Lake Forest Falls to Host River Falls in Semifinals of O'Brien Cup Tournament
Team will face UW-Superior in tomorrow's third-place game

RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The Forester women's hockey team was defeated 6-2 at Northern Collegiate Hockey Association champion UW-River Falls in the semifinals of the NCHA O'Brien Cup Tournament on Saturday (Febaury 28). Lake Forest fell to 12-14-1 on the season while the Falcons, the nation's seventh-reanked team, raised their record to 18-5-3.

The home team took the early lead with a power play goal at the 9:25 mark of the opening period. The Foresters tied the score with a power play goal of their own at 16:27. It was freshman Jessica Dare's (Whitmore Lake, Mich./Belle Tire) fourth goal of the season with assists credited to sophomore Sam Herron (Clinton Township, Mich./Victory Honda) and junior Jamie Sauer (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines H.S.). River Falls scored again at 18:19 and led 2-1 at the first intermission.

The Falcons increased their lead to 4-1 with second period goals at 1:51 and 13:20.

River Falls added insurance goals at 5:56 and 12:25 in the third. Lake Forest closed out the scoring with 1:54 to play in the contest on Herron's ninth of the year. She was assisted by sophomore Lynn Switaj (Avon Lake, Ohio/Ohio Flames) and freshman Kim Herring (Dover, N.H./Groton School).

The Foresters will face off against UW-Superior in the tourney's third-place game at 12:05 tomorrow afternoon.
