Foresters Fall Twice at Nation's Seventh-Ranked Team
Team falls to 12-7-3 on the season

Nicki Paquette scored the first goal of the weekend.
RIVER FALLS, WI - The Lake Forest College women's hockey team was swept over the weekend (February 7-8) at UW-River Falls, the nation's seventh-ranked team (US College Hockey Online). Friday night's score was 3-2 and Saturday afternoon's was 8-1. The losses drop Lake Forest's overall record to 12-7-3 and its Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark to 5-7-2. The Falcons are now 15-4-4 overall and 10-1-3 in the NCHA.

The Foresters scored first Friday at the 7:30 mark of the opening period on freshman Nicki Paquette's (Moncton, NB/New Hampton School) eighth goal of the season. Sophomore Nichole Greco (Franklin Park, IL/Chicago Young Americans) was credited with the assist. River Falls tied the score at the 15:30 mark on a goal by Ali Slinden.

Freshman Mel Guillermo's (North Las Vegas, NV/Culver Academy) fourth goal of the season came at the 2:09 mark of the second and regained the lead for the visitors. Sophomore Lindsey Wild (Houston, TX/Texas Hurricanes) and junior Lydia Groskin (Stowe, VT/North American Hockey Academy) recorded the assists. At 11:26, however, Beth Betker scored for the Falcons to once again tie the score.

River Falls' Katie Hiscock recorded the game winner at 12:35 in the third.

The Foresters had 24 shots on goal Friday compared to 22 for the home team. Saturday was a different story as Lake Forest was out-shot 29-16.

Mandy Stokes and Meghan Wahlstrom-Ramler each scored goals for River Falls in the first period.

At the 7:49 mark of the second, Slinden gave the Falcons a three-goal lead. Forester freshman Catherine Norton (South Boston, MA/Phillips Andover Academy) scored her second goal of the season at the 12:36 mark with freshman Lil Caligiuri (Wheaton, IL/Culver Academy) and senior Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL/Granite City Senior) assisting. Slinden scored again, however, just 16 seconds later.

Falcon goals by Lindsy Carlson, Leah Baron, Lindsay O'Keefe, and Wahlstrom-Ramler in the third ensured there would be no Forester comeback.

Lake Forest will complete its regular season schedule with a pair of home games against UW-Eau Claire (7-13-3, 1-11-2 NCHA) next weekend (February 14-15). If UW-River Falls can win at least once at UW-Superior next weekend, the Falcons will host the NCHA Tournament on February 21-22. Lake Forest would play UW-Stevens Point (18-4-2, 12-3-1) in the semifinals.
