Lake Forest Knocked Off by UW-Eau Claire in First Game of 2002
Slater ties own record for goals, Wild records three assists

Lindsey Wild had three assists, giving her 12 for the season.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's hockey team recorded its highest goal total since November 10th, but still lost the game Friday (January 11th) night to UW-Eau Claire, 6-4. The loss drops the Foresters to 4-8-1 on the season and, more importantly, they fall four points behind Eau Clair for fourth place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association and only four teams will advance to the league tournament at the end of the season.

Eau Claire opened the scoring with a goal just over seven minutes into the game. Sophomore forward Lydia Groskin (Stowe, VT) tied the score with 1:36 left in the first period with her fifth goal of the season. Both first period scores were power play goals.

The Foresters scored their second power play goal of the game less than a minute-and-a-half into the second frame when freshman forward Nichole Greco (Franklin Park, IL) found the back of the net for the second time this year. Junior forward Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL) gave the home team a two-goal lead exactly two minutes into the period. After Eau Claire goals at 9:15 and 13:45 tied the score at three, freshman forward Michelle Pickles (Crown Point, IN) put the Foresters back on top at the 14:00 mark with her third goal of the season. The Blugolds again tied the game with 2:05 left to finally close out the second period scoring.

The fast and furious action of the second period gave way to a more subdued pace in the third and Eau Claire's Sarah Zollars was the only player to get the puck past the goalie as she scored a pair of goals to give the visitors the 6-4 victory.

Slater's goal in the second gave her 15 for the season, matching her school-record total of 2000-01. Her 15 goals last year came in 24 games while it took just 13 this year to tie the mark. Freshman Lindsey Wild (Inver Grove Heights, MN) assists on three of the team's four goals Friday, giving her 12 for the year, just two shy of Slater's other team record from last season.

Lake Forest (4-8-1, 0-7-0 NCHA) and Eau Claire (5-6-2, 1-4-2 NCHA) will play again tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 pm.
