LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College women’s hockey team hosted a pair of non-conference games against Gustavus Adolphus College over the weekend (January 12-13). The Foresters fell 1-0 in overtime Friday night and 5-2 the following afternoon. Lake Forest is now 7-3-3 on the season while the Gusties raised their record to 10-1 and extended their winning streak to 10 games.

Senior Sally Bevis (Huntington, N.Y./North American Hockey Academy) was in goal for the Foresters on Friday and stopped the first 34 shots on goal she faced. The game’s only goal was scored with just 32 seconds remaining in the five-minute overtime period. Bevis is now 3-2-2 on the year with a .928 save percentage and 1.94 goals against average.

Saturday’s scoring started much earlier in the game as Gustavus Adolphus took the lead just 52 seconds into the contest. The Foresters tied the game on a power play goal by freshman Courtney Bean (Peoria, Ill./Team Illinois) at the 5:20 mark of the opening period. Junior Courtney DeHoey (Chatham, Ont./Bluewater Jr. Hawks) assisted on Bean’s second goal of the year. The Gusties, however, regained the lead for good at 9:29.

The visitors tacked on two more goals in the second period, the first at 5:07 and the second on the power play at 15:19.

Lake Forest cut the margin to two goals on an unassisted score by senior Katie Snowden (Toronto, Ont./Willowdale Redwings), her fifth of the year, just 14 seconds in to the third period. Gustavus Adolphus added an insurance goal at 2:25 to close out the scoring.

Lake Forest will resume Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play on the road next weekend (January 20-21). The Foresters will play at UW-River Falls at 2:00 Saturday afternoon and at UW-Eau Claire Sunday evening at 5:00.
