LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester women's hockey team hosted and defeated UW-Superior 3-2 on Saturday (January 17), avenging a 4-2 loss to the Yellowjackets the night before. Lake Forest is now 8-6-1 overall this season and 4-5-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Superior fell to 9-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the league.

The Foresters also raised their record when scoring first to 7-0-0. Freshman Kim Herring (Dover, N.H./Groton School) lit the lamp for the home team at the 4:17 mark of the opening period. It was her team-high ninth goal of the year in just 10 games and she was assisted by sophomore Melissa Kravich (Wilmette, Ill./Gustavus College) and freshman Molly Wallner (Chatham, Ill./Chicago Young Americans). Superior, however, tied the game at 10:16 and took the lead on a power play goal with exactly one minute left before the first intermission.

Lake Forest tied the game at the 8:19 mark of the second period on junior Sam Pinsonneault's (Manchester, N.H./New Hampton School) first goal of the season. Junior Jamie Sauer (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines H.S.) recorded the assist. Wallner then scored what turned out to be the game winner at 10:23. The goal was the second of the season for Wallner and both were game-winners. Kravich recorded her second assist of the game and league-high 14th of the season.

Forester sophomore goaltender Alyssa Wintermute (Belmont, Ontario/St. Thomas Panthers) recorded 24 saves in the contest, including nine in each of the final two periods. She raised her save percentage on the season to .907 and lowered her goals against average to 2.83.

Lake Forest will travel to Adrian College next weekend (January 24-25) for a pair of non-conference games. The teams will face off at 7:00 Saturday night and 2:00 Sunday afternoon.
