Lake Forest Falls on Friday, Skates to a tie at UW-Superior on Saturday
Foresters will host Adrian College next weekend

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Forester women’s hockey team played a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association games at UW-Superior over the weekend (January 18-19). Lake Forest fell 4-0 to the Yellowjackets Friday night and the teams skated to a 1-1 tie the following afternoon. The Foresters are now 5-6-4 overall this season and 3-4-3 in NCHA play. Superior is 10-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the league.

The home team got on the scoreboard Friday night at the 14:48 mark of the opening period and doubled its lead on a power play goal with 1:46 to play in the second. Superior added a goal at 4:45 in the third and scored a shorthanded tally with 2:09 to play in the game.

On Saturday the Foresters scored first just 71 seconds into the contest. Freshman Lynn Switaj (Avon Lake, Ohio/Ohio Flames) netted the goal, her team-high seventh of the season, and assists were credited to sophomore Maggie Bresser (Fond du Lac, Wis./Waupun H.S.) and freshman Sam Herron (Clinton Township, Mich./Victory Honda).

The Yellowjackets tied the game at the 13:29 mark of the second stanza and neither team was able to score during the final 26:31 of regulation or the five-minute overtime period.

Forester sophomore goaltender Ryann McCarthy (Lombard, Ill./Team Illinois) stopped 33 of 34 shots on goal in the contest and 60 of 65 (.923) on the weekend.

Lake Forest will host a non-conference series against Adrian College next weekend (January 26-27). The teams will face off at 2:30 Saturday afternoon and 30 minutes earlier on Sunday.
