Foresters Record Pair of Shutouts Against Hamline
Team wins 8-0 and 4-0 at home

  

Lindsey Wild had three goals and two assists on the weekend.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women’s hockey team swept a series at home against Hamline University over the weekend (January 29-30). The Foresters won 8-0 Saturday night and 4-0 Sunday afternoon to even their record on the year at 7-7-3. The Pipers fell to 3-12-0.

Freshman Jen Clouthier (Aurora, IL/Chicago Mission) started the high-scoring weekend with her first career goal at 2:05 in Saturday’s opening period. She was assisted by senior Nichole Greco (Franklin Park, IL/Chicago Young Americans). Junior Lil Caligiuri (Wheaton, IL/Culver Academy) netted the team’s other first period goal, her fourth of the season, at 11:53 off assists from senior Lindsey Wild (Inver Grove Heights, MN/Rosemount) and junior Erin McGrath (Chippawa, ON/Niagara Rapids).

McGrath and Wild each scored in the second stanza at 7:12 and 8:08, respectively. McGrath’s fourth of the year was unassisted and Caligirui had the helper on Wild’s goal.

Sophomore Michelle Ricketts (Rochester, MI/Honeybaked) scored her second goal of the year off an assist from Wild at the third period’s 6:37 mark. The Foresters’ final three goals, two by freshman Courtney DeHoey (Chatham, ON/Bluewater Jr. Hawks) and one by Wild, all came on the power play. Caligiuri and freshman Kerry Gotowka (West Simsbury, CT/Westminster School) assisted DeHoey at 13:48. Freshman Kendra Grant (Bothell, WA/Washington Wild) and Allison Rushing (Seattle, WA/Seattle Admirals) each recorded her first collegiate point on Wild’s second of the game just 47 seconds later. Finally, freshman Devin McGuire (North Truro, MA/Groton School) also notched her first career point on DeHoey’s sixth of the season at 19:19.

Sophomore Sally Bevis (Huntington, NY/North American Hockey Academy) was in goal on Saturday and stopped all nine Hamline shots on goal. Freshman Becca Roach (Traverse City, MI/Traverse City Habs) recorded 14 saves on Sunday. Both players now have two shutouts on the season.

Unassisted goals by freshman Laura Wilson (Coronna, ON/Sarnia Sting) at 14:08 in Sunday’s first period and sophomore Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/Willowdale Redwings) at the 18:46 mark of the second gave the home team a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Wild’s shorthanded goal at 5:28 in the third was her fourth of the year and came off assists from Rushing and Caligiuri. A power play score by freshman Amalia Vriend (King City, ON/Markham Stouffville Stars) at 16:59 closed out the scoring. Her first career goal was assisted by Snowden and McGrath.

Lake Forest will play the final six games of the regular season against fellow Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opponents, beginning with a series at home against Finlandia University next weekend (February 5-6). The Foresters and Lions will play both Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 2:00.
