Visiting Foresters Finish Off Season Sweep of Finlandia University
Forester freshman Kim Herring (Dover, N.H./Groton School) scored the game's first goal on the power play at the 13:39 mark of the opening period. She was assisted by sophomore Melissa Kravich (Wilmette, Ill./Gustavus College) and freshman Molly Wallner (Chatham, Ill./Chicago Young Americans). Lake Forest doubled its lead on the seventh goal of the year by freshman Mira Trebilcock (South Porcupine, Ontario/Trinity College School) less than two minutes later. Sophomore Lynn Switaj (Avon Lake, Ohio/Ohio Flames) assisted on what turned out to be the game-winning goal. Herring scored another power play goal at the 3:42 mark of the second period. Her team-high 11th score of the season was assisted by Kravich and junior Courtney Bean (Peoria, Ill./Team Illinois). Bean and Kravich, who set the team's single-season assist record on Herring's goal, also assisted on a power play goal by junior Jamie Sauer (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines H.S.) 64 seconds into the third period. It was Sauer's first goal of the season. Finlandia was blanked by sophomore goaltender Brittany Lemke (St. Charles, Ill./St. Mary's University) until breaking through for a goal with just 4:03 to play in the contest. Lemke finished with 15 saves in her first victory as a Forester. Lake Forest will continue conference play at UW-Superior tomorrow afternoon at 2:00. |
