LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College women's hockey team swept a series against Augsburg College on Sunday and Monday (January 4-5). The Foresters won the first game 2-1 and the second 8-1, raising their record on the year to 7-4-1. The Auggies fell to 0-10-0.

Freshman Meghan Fosth (Lake Stevens, Wash./National Sports Academy) put Lake Forest ahead at the 10:44 mark of Sunday's opening period with an unassisted power play goal, her third score of the season.

The lead doubled with freshman Mira Trebilcock (South Porcupine, Ontario/Trinity College School) converted another power play opportunity with 3:16 remaining in the second period. Her sixth goal of the year was assisted by sophomore Kelly Smith (Steamboat Springs, Colo./Lawrence Academy) and freshman Jessica Dare (Whitmore Lake, Mich./Belle Tire).

Augsburg pulled its goalie while on the power play to score their only goal of the contest with just 15 seconds left in the third. Sophomore Alyssa Wintermute (Belmont, Ontario/St. Thomas Panthers) recorded 27 saves in the game.

Wintermute lost the shutout just 18 seconds into Monday's game before going on to record 34 saves in the contest. The only goalie to play for the team so far this season raised her save percentage on the year to .901.

The home team tied the game at the 3:45 mark of the first period on sophomore Melissa Kravich's (Wilmette, Ill./Gustavus College) seventh goal of the season, tying her for team-high honors. Senior Courtney Bean (Peoria, Ill./Team Illinois) and sophomore Sam Herron (Clinton Township, Mich./Victory Honda) assisted on the power play score. The same three players combined on another power play goal at the 13:10 mark with Bean scoring for the third time this year and recording her first career game-winner.

Trebilcock assisted Herron at 10:39 in the second period and Herron netted the team's first shorthanded goal of the season at 12:33. It was her fourth score of the year. Freshman Lauren Rogalsky (Godfrey, Ill./Shattuck St. Mary's) notched her first career goal at 14:40 and classmate Samantha Hersey (Middleton, Mass./New Hampton School) repeated the feat at 19:27. Dare assisted on Rogalsky's score and Hersey was assisted by Smith and Bean.

Herron matched the team record with her fifth point of the game by assisting freshman Sarah Sveen (Baltimore, Md./Washington Pride) at 4:55 in the third period. Trebilcock also earned an assist on Sveen's third goal of the year. Junior Naomi Paterson (Ingersoll, Ontario/London Devilettes) closed out the scoring with 2:05 to play with her second of the season. Kravich and sophomore Lynn Switaj (Avon Lake, Ohio/Ohio Flames) were each credited with an assist.

Lake Forest will resume Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play Saturday night (January 10) at 7:00 at UW-Stevens Point, the nation's eighth-ranked team.
