Wild Sets School Record for Career Assists in Sweep of St. Catherine’s
Roach records first career victory on Friday, shutout on Saturday

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women’s hockey team swept a series against the College of St. Catherine over the weekend (January 7-8) The Foresters won 7-3 on Friday and 5-0 on Saturday to even their record on the year at 5-5-3. St. Catherine’s fell to 2-9-0.

Forester junior Lil Caligiuri (Wheaton, IL/Culver Academy) and senior Lindsey Wild (Inver Grove Heights, MN/Rosemount) each scored for the first time this season in Friday’s opening period. Junior Erin McGrath (Chippawa, ON/Niagara Rapids) assisted Caligiuri’s power play score at 6:39 and sophomore Michelle Ricketts (Rochester, MI/Honeybaked) set up Wild at 16:56.

The second stanza featured five goals in just over four minutes. Sophomore Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/Willowdale Redwings) made the score 3-0 at 3:34 off assists from freshman Courtney DeHoey (Chatham, ON/Bluewater Jr. Hawks) and senior Michelle Pickles (Crown Point, IN/Chicago Young Americans). St. Catherine’s scored just 69 seconds later but, 29 seconds after that, freshman Kerry Gotowka (West Simsbury, CT/Westminster School) netted her third goal of the season off assists from Snowden and Wild. Caligiuri scored again at the 6:19 mark with McGrath and sophomore Liz Mabs (Crete, IL/Elmira College) earning assists and St. Kate’s finished the scoring flurry with a goal at 7:40.

Wild recorded the school record 29th and 30th assists of her career in the third period. The first came on Ricketts’ first goal of the year at 2:34 and the second was on Snowden’s second of the game and third of the season at 6:41. The visitors scored the contest’s final goal at 11:44.

Freshman Becca Roach (Traverse City, MI/Traverse City Habs) recorded 14 saves to win her debut. She was in goal again on Saturday and needed just nine saves to earn her first career shutout.

After recording her team-high seventh and eighth assists of the season on Friday, Erin McGrath scored the first two goals of Saturday’s contest. The first was unassisted at 8:35 in the first and the second was assisted by her sister, sophomore Darby McGrath (Chippawa, ON/Niagara Rapids), 30 seconds later.

Caligiuri and Pickles assisted Dehoey at the 9:39 mark of the second period and Ricketts set up Snowden at 12:28. Both DeHoey and Snowden now have four goals on the year.

Junior Andrea Richmond (Enfield, NH/Northfield Mount Hermon School) closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal, her second of the season, at the 14:08 mark of the third period.

Lake Forest will travel to UW-Stevens Point next Friday (January 14) night for a 7:00 game and will host the Pointers Sunday (January 16) at 5:00 p.m.
