November 11th, 2000 Contact: Scott Rucker, SID Foresters Fall For First Time This Season
STEVENS POINT, WI - UW-Stevens Point shutout visiting Lake Forest College, 3-0, on Saturday (November 11th) to wrap up the first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series for both teams. The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie on Friday. Lake Forest (2-1-1, 0-1-1 NCHA) lost for the first time this season. Stevens Point improved to 3-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in league play. Point's Jessica Barrick scored two goals, including the game-winner. The Pointers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first period and added a third period goal for the final margin. Diane Sawyer stopped all 17 shots she faced to register the shutout, while her counterpart, Lake Forest's Theresa Taylor (Spartanburg, SC/National Sports Academy) had 27 saves. Taylor finished the two-game series with 70 saves and a .933 save percentage. Lake Forest will return to their home ice for their next set of games, as the Foresters host UW-Eau Claire this Saturday and Sunday (November 18th and 19th). Saturday's game will begin at 2:00, while Sunday's start time in 3:00.
