Foresters Begin 2008-09 with Rout of Visiting Chatham
The Foresters got off to a fast start on freshman forward Sara Sveen's (Baltimore, Md./Washington Pride) first career goal at the 4:18 mark of the opening period. She was assisted by sophomore forward Melissa Kravich (Wilmette, Ill./Gustavus College). Sveen added a power play goal with 3:01 left on the clock and freshman forward Kim Herring (Dover, N.H./Groton School) picking up her first career point on the assist. Junior forward Sam LePicier (Williamstown, Mass./Mt. Greylock H.S.), who lettered for Lake Forest as a freshman but did not play last year, scored her first career goal less than two minutes into the second stanza to give the home team a 3-0 lead. She was assisted by freshman forward Jessica Dare (Whitmore Lake, Mich./Belle Tire) and junior defenseman Courtney Bean (Peoria, Ill./Team Illinois). Kravich earned the assist on Herring's first career goal 31 seconds into the third and then scored for the first time as a Forester at the 8:08 mark of the final period. Bean and freshman forward Lauren Rogalsky (Godfrey, Ill./Shattuck St. Mary's) were each credited with an assist. Sophomore goaltender Alyssa Wintermute (Belmont, Ontario/St. Thomas Panthers) recorded three saves in the first period, seven in the second, and six in the third for a total of 16 in her second career shutout. Lake Forest will be on the road next weekend (November 8-9). The Foresters will face off at St. Mary's University Saturday afternoon at 2:00 and at the University of St. Thomas at the same time on Sunday.
