MEQUON, Wis. - The Forester women’s hockey team won 7-3 at Concordia University Wisconsin Tuesday (November 13) night in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opener for both teams. Lake Forest raised its overall record to 2-1-0 while the Falcons fell to 0-3-2.

Senior Laura Wilson (Corunna, Ont./Sarnia Sting) started off the scoring with her first goal of the season at 14:42 n the opening period. She was assisted by classmate Courtney DeHoey (Chatham, Ont./Bluewater Sr. Hawks). Concordia tied the score on a power play goal at 18:06 and the score was still 1-1 at the first intermission.

Senior Kerry Gotowka (West Simsbury, Conn./Westminster School) converted a 5-on-3 power play opportunity to put the Foresters ahead at the 2:52 mark of the second period. She was assisted by fellow seniors Allison Rushing (Seattle, Wash./Seattle Admirals) and Jen Clouthier (Aurora, Ill./Chicago Mission). After the Falcons tied the score again at 6:46, Lake Forest took the lead for good on a goal by DeHoey at the 8:28 mark. Sophomore Jamie Sauer (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines H.S.) earned the assist. Freshman Lynn Switaj (Avon Lake, Ohio/Ohio Flames) then scored back-to-back goals at 9:12 and 12:49. Rushing assisted DeHoey on a power play goal at 2:05 in the third and Gotowka on another 5-on-3 score at the 5:51 mark. It was Gotowka’s first career two-goal game. DeHoey now has three scores on the year and is just one point shy of the program’s career record of 78 set by Robyn Slater from 2000-03.
