RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The Lake Forest College women's hockey team was defeated twice at UW-River Falls, the eighth-ranked team in the country, over the weekend (November 15-16). The Foresters fell 5-3 Saturday afternoon and 1-0 on Sunday and are now 2-3-0 on the season. The Falcons raised their record to 4-0-0. They were the first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association games of the year for both teams.

River Falls led 3-0 at the first intermission after scoring at 8:15, 12:48, and 15:51 (power play) in the period.

Lake Forest got on the scoreboard 91 seconds into the second period on junior Sam LePicier's (Williamstown, Mass./Mt. Greylock H.S.) second goal of the season. She was assisted by freshman Jessica Dare (Whitmore Lake, Mich./Belle Tire) and junior Courtney Bean (Peoria, Ill./Team Illinois). After the Falcons regained their three-goal advanatage at 11:09, Bean converted a power play opportunity with 3:19 left in the period to make the score 4-2. Sophomore Melissa Kravich (Wilmette, Ill./Gustavus College) assisted on Bean's second goal of the year.

Forester freshman Kim Herring (Dover, N.H./Groton School) scored her team-high fourth goal of the young season at the 15:24 mark of the third period to pull the visitors to within a goal. Kravich and junior Jamie Sauer (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines H.S.) were each credited with an assist. River Falls put the game away, however, on a power play goal with 1:59 to play.

Sunday's game was a scoreless affair until the 5:51 mark of the third period when River Falls, while shorthanded, scored the contest's only goal.

Lake Forest sophomore goaltender Alyssa Wintermute (Belmont, Ontario/St. Thomas Panthers) had nine saves in the opening period, 11 in the second, and 10 in the third for a total of 30.

The Foresters will return home for a pair of league games next weekend (November 22-23) against Finlandia University. The teams will face off at 2:00 both afternoons and the games can be heard live on the campus radio station (88.9 WMXM) or over the internet at www.wmxm.org.
