3-1 Win Over UW-Eau Claire Gives Lake Forest First NCHA Win
Theresa Taylor turns away 28 shots to record the win

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College picked up their first-ever Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Women's Division win with a 3-1 triumph over visiting UW-Eau Claire on Saturday afternoon (November 18th).

It was Lake Forest's (3-1-1, 1-1-1 NCHA) first conference home game and third NCHA game overall, while UW-Eau Claire (1-4-0, 0-1-0 NCHA) played their first league contest. Both teams are fledging varsity programs.

Lake Forest's Theresa Taylor (Spartanburg, SC/National Sports Academy) got the win in net by recording 28 saves, including 13 in the decisive third period.

Lydia Groskin (Stowe, VT/North American Hockey Academy) scored a power play goal with just under five minutes to play in the second period for the game's only tally through two periods.

UW-Eau Claire's Megan Christopherson tied the game 1:18 into the third period, but Lake Forest would respond just 12 seconds later when Tory Solley (Washington, CT/Loomis Chaffee School) found the back of the net for the fourth time this season. Michelle Heffel (Tempe, AZ/Lake Forest Academy) registered the assist.

Laura Beebe (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury Regional H.S.) would add an insurance goal at the 8:31 mark, with Groskin and Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL/Grantie City Senior H.S.) picking up assists. It was Slater's second assist of the afternoon.

UW-Eau Claire out-shot the Foresters 29-18 on the day, but went scoreless on five power play attempts.

The two teams will play again tomorrow afternoon at 3:00, again at Alumni Memorial Ice Rink.
