Junior Theresa Taylor (Spartanburg, SC/National Sports Academy) and sophomore Haley Birnbaum (Riverwoods, IL/Chicago Young Americans) combined for the shutout in goal on Friday. Taylor needed just one save to escape the first period and Birnbaum stopped five the rest of the way. Lake Forest got on the scoreboard with only 18 seconds remaining before the first intermission on freshman Jess Healy's (Kentville, NS/Westminster School) first career goal. Sophomore Lindsey Wild (Inver Grove Heights, MN/Rosemount) and freshman Catherine Norton (South Boston, MA/Phillips Andover Academy) were each credited with an assist. The Foresters' other two goals came at the 14:40 and 14:47 marks of the second period. Freshman Emily Blegen (Elk River, MN/Fridley) scored her team-high tenth of the year off a pass from freshman Andrea Richmond (Enfield, NH/Northfield Mount Hermon School). Just 17 seconds later, sophomore Nichole Greco (Franklin Park, IL/Chicago Young Americans) assisted on freshman Nicki Paquette's (Moncton, NB/New Hampton School) fifth score of the season. On Saturday, Buffalo State's Carolyn Totaro scored the game's first goal at the 5:33 mark of the first period. Bengal goaltender Marry Keddie stopped 42 shots on goal during the first two periods to keep the Foresters scoreless. At 10:57 in the third, however, the home team finally broke through with freshman Lil Caligiuri's (Wheaton, IL/Culver Academy) second goal of the season. Richmond and freshman Mel Guillermo (North Las Vegas, NV/Culver Academy) assisted on the score. With 2:18 remaining, Wild scored the game winner, her second point of the weekend and second goal of 2002-03. She was assisted by Blegen, who also had two points in the series. Freshman Kristen Garrett (New Glasgow, NS/Kent School) recorded nine saves to earn her first collegiate victory. The Foresters will be on the road next weekend (December 6-7) at UW-Stevens Point for a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association games.
