LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester women's hockey team split a pair of home games against Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) over the weekend (November 29-30). Lake Forest defeated the Cobbers 4-3 Sunday afternoon after falling by the same score on Saturday. The Foresters are now 2-7-1 this season.

After Lindsay Czarnecki put the visitors ahead at the 9:18 mark of Saturday's first period. Forester sophomore Erin McGrath (Chippawa, ON/Niagara Rapids) converted a power play opportunity just two minutes later and junior Lindsey Wild (Inver Grove Heights, MN/Rosemount) gave Lake Forest the lead less than a minute after that with her first goal of the year. Sophomore Mel Guillermo (North Las Vegas, NV/Culver Academy) assisted on both goals and Michelle Pickles (Crown Point, IN/Chicago Young Americans) was also credited with an assist on Wild's.

After a scoreless second period, Concordia tied the score on a power play goal by Brandie Dunn just 41 seconds into the third. Miranda Koenig gave the Cobbers the lead at the 15:19 mark but Wild assisted sophomore Lil Caligiuri's (Wheaton, IL/Culver Academy) third goal of the season with 1:42 remaining to tie the score. Czarnecki scored for the second time in the game just 17 seconds later, however, and Concordia held on for the win.

Czarnecki struck again in Sunday's contest with the only goal of the first period (12:01).

The home team erupted for four goals in the second. Guillermo scored first at the 3:02 mark with Wild and sophomore Jordi Ralph (Carp, ON/Millbrook) earning the assists. McGrath's team-high fourth goal of the year came on the power play at 6:46 and gave the Foresters the lead. Guillermo and junior Nichole Greco (Franklin Park, IL/Chicago Young Americans) were each credited with an assist. Pickles scored an unassisted goal at 7:38 and Guillermo added a power play unassisted score at 13:17 for the eventual game-winner.

Kali Palmer scored for Concordia at the 3:39 mark of the third and Bridgette Richter's power play goal pulled the Cobbers to within one with just 1:29 remaining. Lake Forest was able to run out the clock, however, to preserve the win.

Senior Theresa Taylor (Spartanburg, SC/National Sports Academy) tallied 34 saves in the victory, her second of the season.

The Foresters will continue the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association portion of their schedule next weekend (December 6-7) at UW-Stevens Point, the nation's 5th-ranked team. The squads will face off at 2:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
