Foresters Sweep UW-Whitewater in First Varsity Women's Hockey Action
Robyn Slater scores first-ever goal for Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, IL - During a weekend of 'firsts' for the Forester women's hockey team, Lake Forest College swept visiting UW-Whitewater in a two-game series. On Friday (November 3rd), Lake Forest won 10-2, while picking up a 7-0 win the next day.

Lake Forest (2-0-0) jumped out to a 4-0 lead on Friday before Whitewater (3-2-1) scored twice to cut the lead in half. The Foresters scored the game's final six goals for the 10-2 final margin. 

Sophomore Robyn Slater (Granite City, IL / Grantie City Senior H.S.) scored the program's first goal at the 4:51 mark of the first period. Aja Dailey (Ketchum, ID / New Hampton Prep School) garnered the first-ever assist.

Slater finished the first game with three points (1 goal, 2 assists) and seven different players scored goals, including a pair of goals by Tory Solley (Washington, CT / Loomis Chaffee School), Kathy Eckhardt (Colorado Springs, CO / Ohio State University), and Trisha DiFazio (Chicago, IL / Fenwick Academy). 

Anne Nitzkowski (Mankato, MN / Mankato East H.S.) played all 60 minutes in goal for the team's first win. She also recorded the first-ever save for Lake Forest, while the first penalty came from Laura Beebe (Sudbury, MA / Lincoln-Sudbury Regional H.S.) at 7:23 of the first period for high sticking. Moira Funke (Northbrook, IL / New Trier H.S.) scored the first game-winning goal in school history.

On Saturday, Sehla Qazi (Buffalo, NY / The Nichols School) recorded Lake Forest's first shutout by stopping all 14 shots on goal and the Foresters scored three goals in each of the first two periods in route to the 7-0 win.

Lydia Groskin (Stowe, VT / North American Hockey Academy) scored two goals, including the game-winner, and Slater and Solley registered three points each. 

Lake Forest will play the first road game in school history next weekend when they travel to UW-Stevens Point on Friday (November 10th) and Saturday (November 11th).
