Five Foresters Named All-Midwest Conference
Coutts, Sovick named to first team

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's soccer team placed five of it's members on the All-Midwest Conference Teams. That number tied them with Lawrence University for the most in the league.

Named to the first team were junior forward Sandi Coutts (Round Lake, IL/College of Lake County) and senior midfielder Erin Sovick (Fort Collins, CO/Poudre). Coutts ranked fifth (tied) in the MWC in goals (8) and sixth in points (16). Sovick was named to the second-team in 1997 and 1998.

Senior midfielder Kim Sponsel (San Diego, CA/Mira Mesa), junior midfielder Staci Gunstream (Fort Collins, CO/Rocky Mountain) and freshman sweeper Cassie George (Shelburne, VT/Berkshire) were placed on the conference's second team. Gunstream led the league with 6 assists, one more than Sponsel. With the appointment of George on the squad, the Foresters have now had at least one freshman named to the first or second team for six consecutive years.

The head coaches of the ten teams in the conference select the teams at their annual meeting after the season.
