Stevenson, Lopez, and Rice Earn All-MWC Honors

LAKE FOREST, IL – The Midwest Conference released it 2005 All-MWC Women’s Soccer Teams on Tuesday (November 15) and three Lake Forest players made the list.

Seniors Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) and Tanya Lopez (Albuquerque, NM/St. Pius X) each earned first team honors. It was Stevenson’s fourth straight year on the first team. She led the Foresters with 16 goals, six assists, and 34 points. The forward’s goals total matched the fourth-highest mark in team history. Stevenson is the program’s all-time leader with 54 goals and 142 points in her career and she ranks second with 34 assists. Lopez, a second team all-conference selection last season, played numerous positions for Lake Forest during the season. She scored a pair of goals and added three assists and now ranks tied-for-seventh in team history with 27 goals and 71 points in her four years. She is also listed in the top 10 with 17 career assists.

Freshman forward Katie Rice (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) was named to the second team. She was Lake Forest’s second-leading scorer with eight goals and 19 points on the year and six of her scores came during conference play.

The Foresters have garnered 36 all-conference selections in Head Coach T.R. Bell’s nine years with the team and at least three have been named All-MWC in eight of those seasons. Rice’s appearance on the list means that at least one Forester freshman has earned all-conference honors in nine of the last 11 years.
