Melissa Stevenson Earns First Team Academic All-District Honors
Senior will appear on Academic All-American ballot

Melissa Stevenson earned Academic All-District honors for the third consecutive year.

LAKE FOREST, IL – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Teams Thursday (November 3) and Lake Forest College’s Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) was one of three forwards named to the First Team.

Stevenson, a senior, was also a first team selection last year and a second team choice as a sophomore. The Biology (Pre-Med) major and Chemistry minor currently owns a 3.93 cumulative grade point average. She will also be named Academic All-Midwest Conference honors for the third consecutive year and has earned the College’s Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Scholar-Athlete Awards, given to the athlete from that class with the highest grade point average for the last three semesters.

On the soccer field, Stevenson led the 2005 Foresters with 14 goals, six assists, and 34 points. She is the program’s all-time leader with 54 goals and 142 points and finished her career with 34 assists, three shy of the school record. She recorded perhaps the greatest season in Lake Forest history as a sophomore when she scored 17 goals and tallied a team record 17 assists and 51 points. Stevenson earned First Team All-Midwest Conference honors each of her first three seasons and was named Second Team All-Central Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America last year.

Stevenson, along with each of the First Team Academic All-District selections from all eight districts, will now appear on the Academic All-American ballot. Those selections will be announced later this month.
