Melissa Stevenson Earns Second Team Academic All-District Honors
Sophomore is successful in the classroom and on the soccer field
  

Melissa Stevenson has been a success on and off the field.
LAKE FOREST, IL - CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) released its 2003 Academic All-District V College Division Women's Soccer Teams Thursday (November 6), and Lake Forest College sophomore Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) was named to the second team. Three forwards were selected to the first team (all seniors) and three more to the second (two sophomores, one senior).

On the soccer field, Stevenson has led the Foresters to their first-ever NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament appearance. The team is 14-3-1 and will play in the first round of the tourney next Wednesday (November 12). Stevenson has 17 goals this year and has set new single-season school records with 17 assists and 51 points.

Last year Stevenson earned First Team All-Midwest Conference honors and the biology (pre-med) major also received Lake Forest College's Freshman Scholar-Athlete Award.

To be eligible for consideration for CoSIDA's Academic All-America or All-District Teams, a player must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20.
