CHICAGO, IL - Since September 12th, the Lake Forest College
women's soccer team has won every other game. Unfortunately for the Foresters
on Wednesday (October 11th), it was the "other" game. Lake Forest was defeated
at the University of Chicago, the 22nd ranked team in the nation, by a
score of 6-0.
Five of the goals scored by the "Maroons" came in the first half as
the Foresters were out-shot 16 to 1. The lone bright spot for the visitors
was sophomore goalkeeper Amanda
Potts (Verona, NJ/Verona). Seeing her first action of the season, Potts
played the entire second half and saved eight of the nine shots on goal
she faced.
The good news for Lake Forest is that they have not lost two in a row
all season and many of their injured players should be back to full strength
by the weekend when they play two Midwest Conference games. On Saturday
(October 14th), the 6-3-1 Foresters host Monmouth College for Parents'
Day at 2:00 PM and Illinois College comes to Lake Forest on Sunday (October
15th) for an 11:00 AM match-up. |
