Rachael LaFin Named Forester Athlete of the Week

LAKE FOREST, IL - Following a fantastic weekend in net for the Foresters, women's soccer player Rachael LaFin (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) has been named the Forester Athlete of the Week for the week of October 5-11. The Lake Forest College Athletic Department selects the winner each Thursday.

On Saturday (October 7th), LaFin and her teammates traveled to Grinnell College, the defending Midwest Conference Champions, and battled to a double-overtime 2-2 tie. The sophomore goalkeeper turned away 15 of the 17 shots on goal she faced, including two breakaways late in the game. Her dominant play continued on Sunday (October 8th) in a 3-0 victory at home against Beloit, blocking all five shots the Buccaneers put on goal to record her first shutout of the year and the fifth of her career.

Her performance over the weekend also earned her Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors.

LaFin, as well as the Foresters, is now 6-3-1 on the season. She has a goals against average of 1.70 and a save percentage of .809, both of which rival her numbers from 1999, when she was named the 1st-Team All-Midwest Conference goalkeeper.
