LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's soccer team stayed in contention for their first Midwest Conference championship since 1989 with a 2-1 victory over St. Norbert College at Nick Wasylik Field on Friday (October 12th). The victory snaps the Foresters five-game losing streak to the Green Knights.

Sophomore forward Aviva Landin (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) opened the scoring in the 19th minute with her seventh goal of the year, bouncing the ball off a St. Norbert defender. Landin has scored in each of the last four games.

Senior forward Sandi Coutts (Round Lake, IL) extended the Foresters' lead to 2-0 with her 11th goal of the year at the 22:08 mark. Sophomore defender Lee Gross (Skokie, IL/Niles West) recorded her third assist of the year and second in as many games on the score.

St. Norbert pulled to within one goal less than two minutes later.

Neither team was able to score during the final 26 minutes of the first period or during the entire second half. Junior goalkeeper Rachael LaFin (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) saved seven of the eight shots on goal she faced in the victory.

Lake Forest raises its MWC record to 6-1-0 and St. Norbert falls to 3-2-1 in league games. The next two games for the Foresters will be against non-conference opponents. They will host UW-Whitewater tomorrow (October 13th) at 12:00 noon and will host Aurora University next Tuesday (October 16th).
