LAKE FOREST, IL - Despite the wind and heavy rain, the Forester women's soccer team was able to defeat UW-Whitewater at home on Saturday (October 13th) by the score of 3-1. The win extended the Foresters' winning streak to six games.

UW-Whitewater got on the board first in the 34th minute. The score proved to be the only one of the first half, despite 12 shot attempts from Lake Forest, six of which were on goal.

Sophomore forward Aviva Landin (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) eventually tied the score in the 54th minute. The goal was the eighth of the year for Landin, who has scored at least one goal in five straight games.

Freshman midfielder Mei-Yun Gibson (Aurora, CO/Eaglecrest) scored her first career goal in the 70th minute to give the home team the lead for good. Gibson became the eighth Forester to score a goal this season. Four more have recorded at least one assist.

Landin scored again in the 75th minute to put the game away. Senior forward Sandi Coutts (Round Lake, IL) assisted on all three Lake Forest goals, giving her a team-high eight for the season. Coutts also leads the team in goals with 11.

The Foresters' next game will be on Tuesday (October 16th) at 4:00 against Aurora University. Their next MWC game will be an important match-up with Lawrence University, who is currently in first place in the Midwest Conference, next Saturday (October 20th). Lawrence is 8-0-0 in league play and Lake Forest is 6-1-0. A victory over Lawrence and another at Ripon College next Sunday (October 21st) would give the Foresters their first Midwest Conference Championship since 1989.
