Grinnell jumped out to a two-goal advantage on Saturday with a pair of scores in the game’s first 11 minutes. Sophomore goalkeeper Alison Lynch (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame) entered the game in the 14th minute and recorded nine saves while allowing only an own goal (36th minute) the rest of the way. The visitors had cut the lead to 2-1 on senior Becca Bride’s (Wilmot, N.H./Kearsarge Regional) first goal of the season. She was assisted by junior Marly Ashworth (Acworth, N.H./Fall Mountain Regional) in the 28th minute. Neither team was able to score in the second half. The opening period was scoreless on Sunday. The Foresters finally broke the tie in the 56th minute on sophomore Jayme Honold’s (Kapolei, Hawaii/Kapolei) second goal of the season. She was also assisted by Ashworth, who leads the squad with five assists. The lead doubled in the 79th minute when freshman Emily Sadler (Everett, Wash./Cascade Senior) also kicked in her second goal of 2006. She was assisted by classmate Jocelyn Maneval (Fairfax,Va./James W. Robinson). Lynch recorded just one save but made several crucial plays in the game to earn the shutout, her first of the season and fourth of her career. Lake Forest will host Monmouth College Saturday (October 21) afternoon at 1:00 and Illinois College at noon on Sunday (October 22). Both contests are league games.
