Stevenson Sets School Records in Foresters' Two 4-0 Victories 
Sophomore is single season record holder in assists and points

MONMOUTH, IL - The Forester women's soccer team recorded a pair of 4-0 shutouts against Midwest Conference opponents over the weekend (October 18-19). Lake Forest won at Illinois College on Saturday and Monmouth College on Sunday to raise its record to 11-2-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the conference. Illinois College fell to 3-8-1 overall and 1-5-0 in the MWC. Monmouth's record dropped to 7-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the league.

Forester sophomore midfielder Breanne Kuenzi (Las Vegas, NV/Bonanza) scored her second goal of the season at the 17:43 mark of Saturday's game. Sophomore forward Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) recorded the assist. Lake Forest out-shot the Lady Blues 10-1 in the first half.

The Foresters out-shot the home team 11-1 in the second period and scored three times. Stevenson earned another assist on senior forward Aviva Landin's (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) tenth goal of the year at 52:07. Sophomore midfielder Tanya Lopez (Albuquerque, NM/St. Pius X) scored for the first time in 2003 just 64 seconds later and junior sweeper Mei-Yun Gibson (Aurora, CO/Eaglecrest) notched her fourth goal of the season at 82:06.

Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Guillermo (North Las Vegas, NV/Culver Academy) did not need a save to record her first career complete-game shutout.

Freshman Krystine Operzedek (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) was in goal for Sunday's victory and tallied a career-high ten saves in her fifth and the team's eighth shutout of the season.

Landin scored the game's first goal just 6:51 into the contest. Stevenson, who had the assist on Landin's goal, scored at 13:48 with Kuenzi recording the assist. Lake Forest held an 11-7 edge in shots and a 2-0 lead at intermission.

Landin scored for the 12th time this season just 7:53 into the second half. Stevenson was credited with her second assist of the game and school-record 15th of the year. Finally, in the 72nd minute, Stevenson scored her second goal of the game and 15th of 2003, giving her 45 points, another new single-season school record. Nicole Tarandy '91 used to own the record for assists (14) and Sarah Bartz '00 the mark for points (44). Stevenson is still four goals shy of the season record held by Bartz and Jessica Wiehrdt '98.

The Foresters will be on the road again Wednesday (October 22) when they take on Carroll College at 4:00 p.m. Carroll is 11-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the MWC.
