LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's soccer team hosted Lawrence University, the Midwest Conference's first-place team, on Saturday (October 20th) and defeated the Vikings 1-0. The win keeps alive the Foresters' hopes for winning their first MWC Title since 1989.

The teams played for 75 minutes and 49 seconds before Lake Forest sophomore forward Aviva Landin (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) scored her 10th goal of the season. Freshman midfielder Carinn Rasak (Santa Fe, NM/Santa Fe Prepoaratory) was credited with her third assist of the season after her shot was deflected by the Lawrence goalkeeper and kicked in by Landin, who has now scored at least one goal in six straight games.

The Foresters out-shot the Vikings 16-11 in the win.

Junior goalkeeper Rachael LaFin (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) saved four shots en route to her fourth solo shutout of 2001 and the team's sixth. LaFin's goals against average dropped to a paltry 0.49.

The Foresters travel to Ripon College tomorrow (October 21st) for a 2:00 pm game. A victory at Ripon would clinch the team's first conference championship in 12 years. Their final regular season game before the MWC Tournament will be at home against Aurora University on Tuesday (October 23rd) at 4:00 pm.
