Foresters Even MWC Record with 5-1 Victory Over Illinois College

Freshman goalkeeper Bethany Aicken got her first career win.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester women's soccer team continued its dominance over Illinois College Sunday (October 20) with a 5-1 defeat of IC. Lake Forest is now 6-0-0 all-time against the Lady Blues and has outscored them 37-1. The Foresters raised their overall record this season to 6-8-0 and their Midwest Conference mark to 4-4-0.

It took just nine minutes and 25 seconds for Lake Forest to get on the scoreboard. Freshman Tanya Lopez (Albuquerque, NM/St. Pius X) scored her 12th goal of the season off a pass from fellow freshman Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge).

After IC tied the score at the 21:45 mark, Stevenson scored a goal of her own in the 32nd minute to give the Foresters the lead for good. Another freshman, Breanne Kuenzi (Las Vegas, NV/Bonanza), earned the assist on Stevenson's eighth goal of the year.

Junior Aviva Landin (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township), Kuenzi, and freshman Laura Gross (Skokie, IL/Niles West) each added goals for Lake Forest. Junior Stephanie Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central) recorded her second assist of the season and 14th of her career, moving her into a tie for ninth on the school's all-time list. She also ranks 10th in career points with 48. Sophomore Lauren McHugh (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Seminary) also assisted on one of the Foresters' goals.

Freshman goalkeeper Bethany Aicken (Louisville, KY/Butler Traditional) allowed just one goal to earn her first career victory.

Lake Forest will travel to UW-Whitewater on Saturday (October 26) for a 12:30 match. The Foresters will play their final game of the year the following Saturday (November 2) at home against Ripon College.
