LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College women's soccer players Mei-Yun Gibson (Aurora, CO/Eaglecrest) and Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) were named Defensive and Offensive Performers of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday (October 21). The pair also swept the league's weekly awards on September 16.

The Foresters won three times last week to raise their record to 11-2-1. Two of the victories came on the road against MWC opponents and, at 6-1-1 in the league, the team has secured a spot in the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament.

In Wednesday's (October 15) 4-2 win at home over Benedictine University, Lake Forest allowed an early goal but Stevenson tied the score later in the first period and gave the Foresters a 2-1 lead with another goal early in the second. Gibson scored the team's third goal in the game's 55th minute.

Lake Forest shut out Illinois College 4-0 on Saturday (October 18). Stevenson assisted on the first two goals of the game and Gibson scored the final tally, her fourth of the season. The junior sweeper also anchored a defense that allowed just two shots in the entire game.

The Foresters knocked off Monmouth College on Sunday (October 19) by the same 4-0 margin. Gibson and the rest of the Forester defense held an opponent without a score for the eighth time this season. Stevenson had a goal and an assist in each half. Her second helper of the game was also her 15th of the season and set a new school record. The sophomore forward's second goal gave her 45 points on the year, more than any other single-season total in the program's history. She trails the record for goals (19) by just four with a minimum of three games remaining on the schedule.

Midwest Conference Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors.
