Carthage Snaps Foresters’ Eight-Game Winning Streak
Streak matched team’s longest since 1996

Kristyne Operzedek has saved 91.9% of shots on goal this year.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women’s soccer team fell 1-0 at home to Carthage College on Saturday (October 2) afternoon. The loss drops the Foresters’ record on the year to 8-2-0 while the Lady Reds’ mark is now 7-3-0.

After a scoreless first half, Carthage finally scored the game’s only goal at the 62:35 mark. The Lady Reds out-shot the Foresters 23-9 in the game and put 15 shots on goal, compared to five for the home team.

Lake Forest sophomore goalkeeper Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) recorded 14 saves in the contest and now has 68 this season with just six goals allowed. Her .919 save percentage is higher than the school record of .911 set by Shelly Keller in 1988.

The Forester loss snaps the team’s eight-game winning streak, which matched program’s longest since the 1996 squad won 11 in a row. Lake Forest will look to start a new streak on Tuesday (October 5) against Concordia University (IL) at 4:30 p.m. The team will put its perfect 6-0-0 Midwest Conference record on the line next Saturday (October 9) against Carroll College in the Foresters’ Homecoming game.
