LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's soccer team
finished their regular season Tuesday (October 24th) with a 3-1 home win
over Carroll College. The Foresters are now 6-3-1 this season against teams
they lost to in 1999.
It was a slow start for the home team as Carroll scored a goal early
(7:40), the only goal of the first half. Freshman Stephanie
Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central) finally got the Foresters on the
board at 62:00 on a goal assisted by junior Stacy
Gunstream (Fort Collins, CO/Rocky Mountain) and senior Kim
Sponsel (San Diego, CA/Mira Mesa). Fink assisted Gunstream on the second
goal at 68:44 and then scored unassisted on the final goal of the game
at 81:23. It marked the second straight Tuesday that Fink scored at least
five points. She scored three goals against Concordia University on October
17th.
The Foresters will travel to St. Norbert College this weekend for the
Midwest Conference Tournament. They will play Grinnell College at 11:00
AM on Friday (October 27th), with the winner taking on the winner of the
Lawrence-St. Norbert game for the MWC title at 2:00 PM on Saturday. The
conference champion will receive an automatic bid in the NCAA Championship
Tournament, starting next Wednesday (November 1st). |
