Katie Rice Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Senior scored the go-ahead goal in a pair of victories

Katie Rice
LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Lake Forest College women’s soccer player Katie Rice (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday (October 30) for her performance in a pair of victories the previous weekend (October 25-26).

Rice, a senior midfielder, scored to put the Foresters ahead 2-1 early in the second half of the team’s 3-2 triumph at Grinnell College on Saturday. Lake Forest scored again less than eight minutes later and surrendered a goal with 2:24 to play in the game but held on for the victory.

The Foresters also defeated visiting Beloit College 1-0 on Sunday and Rice kicked in the game’s only goal with 22:33 to play in the contest. It was her fourth score and team-high third game-winning goal of the season.

Rice ranks second on the team with nine points this year. She has scored 22 times in her four years at the College and ranks tied-for-15th in team history with 53 career points.

Thanks in large part to the victories last weekend, the Foresters need just one win this Saturday or Sunday to clinch a berth in the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Rice also earned the award once as a freshman.
