Lake Forest Shuts Out Benedictine at Home
Stevenson contributes to all three goals

Caty von Brecht scored the first goal of her career.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester women’s soccer team raised its overall record on the year to 6-2-1 with a 3-0 victory at home over Benedictine University on Wednesday (October 5). The loss left the Eagles winless in 10 contests this season.

Lake Forest senior Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) netted the game’s first goal just 13 minutes and 11 seconds into the contest. The unassisted score was her fourth game winner of the year. Stevenson then assisted on the first career goal for freshman Caty von Brecht (Cumberland, ME/North Yarmouth Academy) at 25:33.

The third and final goal of the game was also scored by Stevenson off an assist from freshman Katie Rice (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest). Stevenson leads the 2005 Foresters with 10 goals, five assists, and 25 points and ranks second in school history in all three categories with 50 goals, 33 assists, and 133 points in her career. She now trails all-time leader Nicole Tarandy by just two goals, four assists, and seven points.

Freshman goalkeeper Alison Lynch (Dunlap, IL/Peoria Notre Dame) needed just a pair of saves to record the shutout, her second of the season. She has surrendered just two goals in more than 435 minutes this year.

Lake Forest will resume the Midwest Conference portion of its schedule with two important league games this weekend (October 8-9). The Foresters will host first-place Grinnell College Saturday morning at 10:00 before traveling to Beloit College on Sunday for a 2:00 p.m. match.
