Lake Forest Scores Nine Times in Shutout at Monmouth
Landin records Foresters' second "hat trick" of the weekend

Aviva Landin scored three times on Sunday.
MONMOUTH, IL - A day after scoring six times in a shutout of Illinois College, the Forester women's soccer team blanked Monmouth College 9-0. The nine goals in a game is two shy of the school record of 11 set in 1994.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Potts (Verona, NJ/Verona) played her first full game of the year and recorded two saves two earn the shutout. Monmouth is the third straight opponent to be held scoreless by the Foresters and the fifth this year.

Scoring three times for Lake Forest was sophomore forward Aviva Landin (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township), who now has six goals on the season and five in the last three games. Landin connected for the first two scores of the game on assists from sophomore forward Stephanie Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central) and senior midfielder Sarah Klerk (Augusta, MI/Gull Lake). Her third goal was the first score of the second half and was assisted by senior forward Sandi Coutts (Round Lake, IL).

Senior midfielder Stacy Gunstream (Fort Collins, CO/Rocky Mountain) scored the team's third goal of the game and her third of the season off of an assist from freshman forward Carinn Rasak (Santa Fe, NM/Santa Fe Prepoaratory).

Stephanie Fink's sister, freshman midfielder Kristen Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central), scored twice, her fourth and fifth goals this year, on assists from sophomore defender Lee Gross (Skokie, IL/Niles West) and Klerk.

Coutts and Stephanie Fink also scored one goal each in the match, their tenth and sixth of the season, respectively. Freshmen midfielders Lauren McHugh (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Seminary) and Sarah Shepherd (Newburgh, ON/Williston-Northampton) assisted on the goals. It was the third time this season that both Fink sisters scored a goal in the same game. McHugh scored the Foresters' last goal, her third of the season.

Lake Forest is now 9-2-0 overall and 5-1-0 in Midwest Conference games and will host St. Norbert College on Thursday (October 12th) at 4:00 pm. The Foresters will be looking to end a five-game losing streak to the Green Knights.
