LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's soccer team recorded its third straight shutout and improved its record to a perfect 3-0 after blanking Dominican University 3-0 in its home opener on Wednesday (September 10). The win marks the fourth consecutive season in which the Foresters have opened a season by winning their first three contests.

Lake Forest controlled Dominican from the first minute of the game. Sophomore forward Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) found the back of the net with her first goal of the season just 46 seconds into the contest. In the 19th minute, junior midfielder Erika Koesling (Lindenhurst, IL/Antioch) notched the Foresters' second score when she added her first goal of the year off a pass from senior midfielder Stephanie Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central). Finally, in the 50th minute, Lake Forest struck for the third time when senior midfielder Samantha England (Prince George, BC/Kelly Road Secondary) scored her first goal of the year. Koesling and Stevenson were each credited with an assist. Stevenson now leads the squad with five assists and is second with seven points.

Defensively, freshman Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) needed just two saves to record her third shutout in as many contests. In her first three collegiate games, Operzedek has played 270 minutes, saved 10 shots, and has yet to allow a goal. She is the first goalkeeper in the team's 17-year history to start a season with three straight shutouts.

Lake Forest will open its Midwest Conference schedule on Saturday (September 13) when the team travels to Ripon College (1-1, 0-0).
