Bell Becomes Foresters All-Time Winningest Coach with 3-1 Win

WHITEWATER, WI - In their first road game of the 2000 season, the Lake Forest College women's soccer team defeated UW-Whitewater, 3-1, on Tuesday (September 12th). The win was Lake Forest's third of the season and Head Coach T.R. Bell's 29th of his coaching career. With the victory, Bell became the all-time winningest coach in the 15-year history of Forester women's soccer. He surpassed Paul Marinescu to claim the top spot. Bell currently has a career record of 29-23-1.

With three wins in their first three games this season, the Lake Forest women's soccer team is quickly erasing memories of a disappointing 1999 campaign in which they compiled a 5-10-1 overall record. Lake Forest's three-game winning streak is their first since 1998.

Lake Forest scored in the game's first ten minutes for third straight contest and sophomore goalkeeper Rachael LaFin (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) allowed just one goal for the third consecutive game.

Sophomore Dana Tate (Appleton, WI/Appleton East) opened the scoring with a goal off the post (assisted by Erin Sovick (Fort Collins, CO/Poudre)) in the game's ninth minute. It was Tate's first goal of the season, while Sovick recorded her team-high fifth point. She has scored at least one point in each game thus far this year.

Beth Kohr (Franklin, OH/Franklin), assisted by Stephanie Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central), and Cassie George (Shelburne, VT/Berkshire), unassisted, also scored goals for Lake Forest. It was George's first career goal and Fink has registered an assist in each game of her young collegiate career. Kohr now has two goals on the season.

Christin Achlam scored UW-Whitewater's lone goal. It came in the 80th minute.

Lake Forest is now 3-0-0, while UW-Whitewater fell to 2-2-0.

Lake Forest will play two Midwest Conference road contests this weekend. The Foresters will travel to rival St. Norbert College on Saturday (September 16th) and then face Knox College the following afternoon
