Foresters 3-0 After Shutout of North Central
Team has not allowed a goal in 262:53

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's soccer team avenged last year's loss to North Central College on Wednesday (September 12th) by defeating the Cardinals 4-0. It is the second straight shutout for the Foresters, who have not allowed a goal in almost 263 minutes and have allowed just seven shot attempts in three games this season.

After a scoreless first half, sophomore Stephanie Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central) finally put Lake Forest on the board with a goal just over seven minutes into the second period and another roughly 15 minutes later. Stephanie's sister, Kristen Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central), scored next in the 76th minute on a pass from freshman Lauren McHugh (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Seminary), who closed out the scoring with a goal of her own. It is the second game in a row that both Fink sisters have scored at least one goal each.

Junior goalkeeper Rachael LaFin (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) faced just two shots on goal and turned them both away to get the shutout and lower her goals-against-average to 0.40 for the season.

It marked the tenth consecutive home victory for the Foresters, tying the school record that was accomplished twice between 1994 and 1996. The next game for Lake Forest will also be at home when they take on St. Norbert College on Sunday (September 16th) at 1:00 pm. Last year the Green Knights went through the Midwest Conference regular season without a loss and are 3-1 overall so far in 2001.
