Tanya Lopez's seven goals helped get the Foresters off to a 3-0 start.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest women's soccer player Tanya Lopez (Albuquerque, NM/ St. Pius X) was named Forester Athlete of the Week and Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the week for her dominating performance to open the 2002 season.  Lopez tallied seven goals in two games versus Concordia University (WI) and conference opponent Knox College

Lopez began her scoring barrage Thursday (September 5th) in an 8-0 victory at home versus Concordia University (WI) when she scored four goals for the Foresters.  Only her second collegiate match, she connected on four of the nine shots she attempted to help lead the team to the victory.

Following her four-goal performance, Lopez provided an encore with her second hat trick in three days. Saturday (September 7th) versus Knox College, she gave the Foresters the lead for good with her first goal 8:38 into the contest and later added two more for good measure.

The Forester Athlete of the Week is chosen by the Athletic Department on Thursdays and the Midwest Conference Players of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors.
