Foresters 2-0-0 in Conference after Victory over Ripon

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Lake Forest College women's soccer team defeated visiting Ripon College 2-1 on a soggy field in the rain on Saturday (September 13). The Foresters are now 3-3-0 overall this season and 2-0-0 in Midwest Conference play. The Red Hawks fell to 1-5-0 overall in their first league contest of the year.

The home team took the lead just 110 seconds into the contest on freshman Caroline Stearns' (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) first career goal. She was assisted by sophomore Bianca Greene (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica).

Niether team scored the rest of the opening period. The Foresters struck again just 104 seconds into the second half on sophomore Mackenzie Yates' (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Preparatory School) first goal of the season. Senior Katie Rice (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest) earned the assist.

Lake Forest senior goalkeeper Alison Lynch (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame) needed just two saves to hold the Red Hawks scoreless until the final moments of the game. Ripon scored its only goal with just 90 seconds to play in the contest.

The Foresters will travel to MWC rival St. Norbert College next Saturday (September 20) for a 2:00 p.m. game.
