Lake Forest Tops Benedictine University 5-0
McHugh scores twice for second straight game

Sofia Pappas earned her first collegiate shutout.
LISLE, IL - The Forester women’s soccer team raised its overall record to 4-1-0 with a 5-0 victory at Benedictine University Tuesday (September 14) afternoon. The loss dropped the Eagles’ record to 0-5-0.

Senior Lauren McHugh (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Seminary) started the scoring in the 15th minute with her third goal of the season. Sophomore Allie Kabat (Hinsdale, IL/Hinsdale Township) earned the assist. Senior Kristen Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central) scored her second of the year off a pass from junior Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) in the 22nd minute and junior Tanya Lopez (Albuquerque, NM/St. Pius X) got her third with freshman Helen Eisenberg (Albuquerque, NM/ Bosque School) earning the assist.

McHugh took over the team lead with her fourth goal of the season off a Stevenson pass at 55:50. It was her second straight two-goal game. The final Forester tally came off the foot of sophomore Becca Bride (Wilmot, NH/Kearsarge Regional), her first of 2004, with 13:10 remaining in the contest. Freshman Katy Barrnett (Peterborough, NH/Lawrence Academy) was credited with the assist.

Freshman Sofia Pappas (Park Ridge, IL/Loyola Academy) made her first collegiate start in goal and needed just a pair of saves to earn the shutout.

McHugh, Stevenson, and Lopez are tied for the team lead with nine points apiece. Fink and senior Erika Koesling (Lindenhurst, IL/Antioch) each have eight points, including a team-high four assists.

Lake Forest will put its 3-0-0 Midwest Conference record on the line Saturday (September 18) afternoon at 1:00 at Lawrence University (0-5, 0-0 MWC).
