Carthage Hands Foresters Their First Loss of 2003

KENOSHA, WI - The Lake Forest women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2003 season Tuesday (September 16), a 1-0 decision at Carthage College. The team is now 4-1-0 on the year and has outscored its opponents 15-1.

Carthage scored the game's only goal in the 23rd minute. The Lady Reds controlled the ball most of the first half and the Foresters most of the second.

Lake Forest freshman goalkeeper Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) surrendered her first goal of the season, ending her personal streak of more than 360 minutes of shutout soccer. "Opie" tallied six saves in the game, giving her 17 stops on the year and a .944 save percentage.

The Foresters, who are 1-0-0 so far this year in Midwest Conference play, will host league rival St. Norbert College on Saturday (September 20) at 1:00 p.m.
