Foresters Prevail 4-0 at Knox College
Team improves to 2-0-0 in MWC play

Galesburg, Ill. – The Lake Forest College women’s soccer team traveled to Knox College on Saturday (September 16) and came away with a 4-0 victory. The Foresters are now 3-1-0 overall this season and a perfect 2-0-0 in Midwest Conference play. The Prairie Fire fell to 0-3-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the league.

Lake Forest got on the scoreboard early on senior Allie Kabat’s (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Township) second goal of the season just 6:31 into the contest. It was the only score of the first half.

Junior Marly Ashworth (Acworth, N.H./Fall Mountain Regional) scored her first goal of the year just 43 seconds into the second half off an assist from classmate Brittany MacLeod (Gorham, Maine/Gorham). Sophomore Katie Rice (Centennial, Colo./Eaglecrest) added an unassisted goal at 64:03, her second of the season. Finally, junior Helen Eisenberg (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) closed out the scoring at the 80:44 mark. Sophomore Jayme Honold (Kapolei, Hawaii/Kapolei) assisted on Eisenberg’s first goal of the year.

Senior Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) started at goalkeeper for the visitors and played the entire first half. Sophomore Alison Lynch (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame) was in goal for the first 29 minutes of the second period and freshman Julie Maskulka (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) preserved the shutout over the final 16 minutes.

Lake Forest will host Concordia University (Ill.) on Tuesday (September 19) at 4:30 p.m. The team will then travel to St. Norbert College on Saturday (September 23) for a 2:00 contest.
