The home tem jumped out to an early lead when senior Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) kicked in a pass from freshman Mallory Davis (Whitefish Bay, WI/Whitefish Bay) just 5:49 into the contest. Lake Forest out-shot St. Norbert 4-3 in the first half but neither team was able to score again in the period. After the visitors tied the game at the 52:55 mark, Stevenson scored her second goal of the contest at 68:38. Freshman Katie Rice (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest) earned the assist, the first helper of her career. Rice and Stevenson switched roles on the Foresters’ final goal, an insurance tally with 3:05 left on the clock. It was Rice’s sixth score of the year, tying her with Stevenson for the team lead. Stevenson also leads the squad with four assists and 16 points. Junior Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) recorded four saves in the game to raise her record on the year to 2-0-0. Forester goalkeepers have surrendered a total of just two goals in the team’s four games this season. Lake Forest will travel to Carthage College on Wednesday (September 21) for a non-conference match against the Lady Reds. The contest is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. The team will resume its league schedule at 1:00 Saturday (September 24) at home against Lawrence University. Box Score
