WAUKESHA, WI - It was windy and rainy and the game was sloppy, but the Forester women's soccer team still managed to escape with a victory over Carroll College by a score of 2-1. The win raises Lake Forest's overall record to 4-0 and its MWC mark to 2-0. Carroll falls to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Senior midfielder Stacy Gunstream (Fort Collins, CO/Rocky Mountain) started off the scoring in the game's eighth minute with her first goal of 2001. Gunstream's goal, along with her four assists in the first three games of the year, give her six points for the season. Sophomore forward Stephanie Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central) scored the team's other goal just six minutes later. Fink now has four goals and an assist on the year, giving her nine total points, the second-highest total on the team. The Foresters kept the home team off the scoreboard until the game's 78th minute, when Carroll's only goal was scored. Junior goalkeeper Rachael LaFin (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) stopped 12 of 13 shots on goal to keep Lake Forest in the lead. Lake Forest will take their undefeated record to Carthage College on
Saturday (September 22nd). The game will begin at 7:00 pm and will be played
under the lights and on artificial grass, the only time the Foresters will
play under either of those conditions this season.
