KENOSHA, WI - For a while it looked like both the Lake Forest and Carthage women's soccer teams would leave the field undefeated Saturday (September 22nd) night, but the Foresters' overtime goal broke the 1-1 tie and gave the Lady Red's their first loss of 2001.

Lake Forest was out-shot 15-8 but junior goalkeeper Rachael LaFin (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) turned away 10 of the 11 shots on goal she faced. It was the second game in a row that LaFin reached double-digits in saves.

Freshman Kristen Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central) scored the game's first goal and her third of the season in the 34th minute. Senior Stacy Gunstream (Fort Collins, CO/Rocky Mountain) recorded the assist, her fifth of 2001 and the 24th of her career, tying her for second on the school's all-time list.

Carthage tied the game less than five minutes later and the teams held each other scoreless for slightly less than an hour of game time.

The game-winner came from Gunstream, who was assisted by sophomore Lee Gross (Skokie, IL/Niles West) after seven minutes and three seconds of overtime. It was Gunstream's second goal and Gross's first assist of the season.

The Foresters will take their 5-0 record and a 10-game home winning streak into next Tuesday's (September 25th) home match against the University of Chicago. Their Midwest Conference schedule will resume next weekend (September 29-30th) with a game at home against Grinnell on Saturday (11:00 am) and one at Beloit on Sunday (1:00 pm). Lake Forest is currently 2-0 in league games.
