Junior Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) started the scoring just 7:46 into the contest with her fourth goal of the season. Senior Kristen Fink (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central) earned the assist on Stevenson’s goal and then scored one of her own at 26:01. Junior Laura Gross (Skokie, IL/Niles West) was credited with the assist on Fink’s third of the year. The home team got on the scoreboard early in the 41st minute and the first period ended with the Foresters holding onto a 2-1 lead. Junior Tanya Lopez (Albuquerque, NM/St. Pius X) took over the team lead in goals with her fifth of 2004 in the 60th minute off another assist from Fink, whose four-point game was the second of her career. Sophomore Becca Bride (Wilmot, NH/Kearsarge Regional) assisted freshman Helen Eisenberg’s (Albuquerque, NM/ Bosque School) fourth goal of the season at 76:49. The final score came off the foot of freshman Elizabeth Huff (Dodgeville, WI/Dodgeville), her second of the season. Freshman Samantha Newman (Berea, KY/Berea) earned the assist in her first collegiate game. Sophomore Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) needed just three saves to earn the victory and raise her record on the year to 5-1-0. Freshman goalkeeper Sofia Pappas (Park Ridge, IL/Loyola Academy) relieved Operzedek but did not face a shot on goal in the final 22:44 of the contest. Lake Forest will play a pair of Midwest Conference games this weekend (September 25-26). The Foresters will put their 4-0-0 league mark on the line at defending conference champion Grinnell College Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and will host Beloit College Sunday afternoon at 1:00.
