Foresters Fall in Overtime in Only Night Game of Season
First-ever women's soccer night game at North Central College

NAPERVILLE, IL - The Lake Forest College women's soccer team suffered their second defeat of the season Wednesday (September 27th) by a score of 2-1 in overtime at North Central College.

The Foresters did get on the board first when senior midfielder Erin Sovick (Fort Collins, CO/Poudre) scored four minutes into the second half. On that goal, Senior midfielder Kim Sponsel notched her 2nd assist of the season and 15th of her career, tying her for 5th place on the all-time list with teammate Staci Gunstream (Fort Collins, CO/Rocky Mountain) and 2000 Forester Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Priscilla Posick.

The Cardinals tied the game 20 minutes later and then won it on a header off a corner kick just 1:22 into overtime. The game had historical significance to the home team as it marked the first women's soccer game played under the lights at North Central College.

The team will attempt to rebound from the non-conference loss on Saturday (September 30th) when they travel to Appleton, WI to play MWC foe Lawrence University at 12:00 pm.
