Lynch Notches First Career Shutout in Lake Forest's Win at Concordia
Stevenson scores twice, trails program’s career record by four

Alison Lynch has a 0.30 goals against average so far this year.
RIVER FOREST, IL - The Forester women’s soccer team claimed a 4-0 victory at Concordia University (IL) in a non-conference game Tuesday (September 27) afternoon. Lake Forest is now 5-1-1 on the season while the Cougars fell to 3-4-1.

Freshman Mallory Davis (Whitefish Bay, WI/Whitefish Bay) put the visitors on the scoreboard at the 15:24 mark with her first career goal. The unassisted score was the only tally in the opening half.

The next two Forester goals were scored by senior Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) and separated by just 71 seconds. The first occurred at 51:02 and was assisted by sophomores Helen Eisenberg (Albuquerque, NM/Bosque School) and Brittany Macleod (Gorham, ME/Gorham). The second, her team-high eighth of the season, was unassisted at 52:13. Stevenson now has 48 goals in her career, four shy of the school record set by Nicole Tarandy (1987-90).

Senior Tanya Lopez (Albuquerque, NM/St. Pius X) scored the fourth and final goal at 74:29 on a penalty kick. She is now tied for seventh place in team history with 27 career goals and tied for eighth with 70 points.

The shutout, the first of her career, was credited to freshman goalkeeper Alison Lynch (Dunlap, IL/Peoria Notre Dame). She recorded four saves in the contest and has now surrendered just one goal in more than 300 minutes of play while posting a 3-0-0 record this season.

The Foresters’ next game will be at home against Loras College on Sunday (October 2) at noon. The team, which is 3-0-1 in the Midwest Conference, will resume league play the following Saturday (October 8) at home against Grinnell College.
